40 of the most remarkable wineries in the world committed to a more sustainable industry highlighted by the Robert Parker Green Emblem, Business News

In 2022, expert reviewers from the Robert Parker Wine Advocate have selected no less than 16 inspiring wineries for their sustainable approach to winemaking, joining the 24 already recognized in the inaugural 2021 list.

SINGAPORE & PANA – Media outreach – November 16, 2022 – In 2021, Robert Parker wine lawyer has taken the first step by a wine review site to empower wine lovers looking for sustainable wines with editorial innovations. Website enhancements included new search filters for certified organic and biodynamic wines, and Green Emblem recognition, given to selected wineries that have demonstrated extraordinary efforts in pursuing environmentally responsible practices, was also introduced.

With a growing demand from passionate consumers for more elaborate wines sustainably , our Green Emblem initiative aims to shine a light on winemakers who have gone to extraordinary lengths to practice environmentally responsible viticulture in the face of changing climate challenges. The ambition of our approach is to amplify and highlight sustainable practices in wineries by putting them in the spotlight.” Said Robert Parker wine lawyer editor, Joe Czerwinski.

The Robert Parker Green Emblem: dedicated recognition to inspiring vineyards.

To qualify for the Green Emblem award, a winery may or may not already be certified organic and/or biodynamic. Beyond or outside of certification, the producer must be an outstanding promoter of sustainability that looks to long-term environmental protection and biodiversity. Every year, Robert Parker wine lawyer examiners nominate new candidates from their regions who are worthy of Robert Parker’s green emblem. Once a winery is recognized, all of its wines will bear the green Robert Parker emblem going forward, until changes to the winery may cause recognition to be revoked.

From France, Portugal or Italy, sustainable inspirations are everywhere.

This year’s winners have impressed Robert Parker wine lawyer reviewers with the breadth and depth of sustainable practices that stand out in their fields. Among these 16 exceptionally inspiring wine estates, located in 7 countries, we can highlight Maris Castle in Languedoc, France. It is the first B-Corp certified winery in Europe and one of only 26 in the world. Its winery is constructed of plant-based “hempcrete” and is energy self-sufficient, biodegradable and carbon negative.
Herdade do Esporao in Alentejo, Portugal, is one of the world’s largest producers of certified organic wines, whose sustainable initiatives have also earned it a MICHELIN Green Star for Esporão’s restaurant, among other accolades.

In Italy, Avignonese in Tuscany has implemented several conservation protocols; E. Pira & Figli – Chiara Boschis in Barolo, set out to make Cannubi MGA fully grown and certified organic; and Arianna Occhipinti the young humanist from her eponymous estate has defined a vision of organic, biodynamic and sustainable viticulture.
