Downtown Mesa is slowly becoming a veritable hotspot for craft beer lovers, with brewpubs dotted along the Main Street corridor. But Cider Corps offers something a little different. This place operates very similarly to a brewery. There’s a patio with picnic tables, a large, slightly industrial space with plenty of faucets on the wall, board games to play, and tables for friends to hang out and have a cold one. But here, the drink of choice is apple-based. Brothers Josh and Jason Duren opened the cider house in 2017 with a recipe that gets all the flavor from the fruit they use, without too much sugar. This means the ciders are packed with flavor, but are very different from the sweet, sweet alternatives in the grocery store. Over the years, menu options have expanded far beyond just apples, to include mango and rosehip; passion fruit, orange, guava, a blend in the tropics known as POG; and black tea, lemon and peach. The cider house honors Jason Duren’s service with the US Marine Corps, which is reflected in the cider house decor and cider names, including Mango Foxtrot, Private Palmer, and a special set of Cider Bombs. On a hot day, try a single flavor or a colorful swirl of chilled, refreshing cider slushies.
