Sunbury to Host Second Meeting for Business Owners | New

SUNBURY – Sunbury Mayor Josh Brosious said he looked forward to the second meeting and welcoming of business owners after hosting an inaugural meeting earlier this year.

The next event is scheduled for August 17 from 6-8 p.m. at Iron Vines Winery, 322 Raspberry Ave. at Sunbury.

Brosious said February’s event at the MidTown Bistro was so successful he wanted to hold another one, but this time focus on companies providing marketing ideas and how to attract new businesses to open a store in the city.

“We had such a great response the first time that I wanted to do it again,” he said. “We look forward to hearing from our businesses and seeing what we can do to help.”

One of these ideas will be marketing techniques and offering businesses the option to purchase a banner, similar to the Home Town Hero banners found on Market Street.

“I think it’s a good idea to get these banners and put them on Front Street for people crossing,” Brosious said.

The event will also feature Tom Webb, owner of Spyglass Ridge Winery.

Webb, in addition to developing the winery just outside of town, is also the person responsible for bringing big name artists like Heart, Third Eye Blind, ZZ Top and Brett Michaels to Sunbury to perform during the series of Winery’s Backyard summer concerts.

“Tom (Webb) built his business from the ground up and I wanted him to come and talk about some of his ideas,” Brosious said.

“We are all here for the same reasons to help Sunbury move forward and help our businesses succeed.”

The previous event drew more than 50 people who networked, Councilman John Barnhart said.

“It’s a great opportunity for companies to meet and share ideas to attract more people,” he said.
