At its Catalonia Premium workshop, held at Harvey Nichols in London, the Catalan Tourism Board presented 13 premium companies and two local tourist boards in the region to travel buyers, with the aim of increasing the commitment to what the region has to offer.

For the first time, the tourist board is also looking to attract agents to attend its Catalonia Workshop and FamTrip in Sitges, Barcelona.

The event will take place from 16-19 November and in addition to networking opportunities with a range of premium Catalan companies, two familiarization trips will also take place for agents.

Aicard Guinovart Marques, UK and Ireland Director of the Catalan Tourist Board, said: “The Catalunya Premium brand has normally been promoted in North America, Russia, the Middle East and Asia, but we never really considered promoting it in Europe. Just before the pandemic, we did our first workshop in London for the Catalunya Premium brand and it was really successful. We realize that London is the most important departure point from Europe for this type of offer.

He added that Barcelona statistics show that British tourists are the main inbound market for five-star hotels in the city.

“That’s why we organized the second edition of the workshop in London, and also to present the opportunity to join the workshop and the familiarization trip to Catalonia in November,” he said.

The two familiarization trips cover either Barcelona and the Costa Brava or Barcelona and the Costa Durauda, taking into account the highlights of the region.

The first includes Figueres and the Dali Museum; time at Hotel Golf Peralada, Hotel Terraverda, and Hotel Castell l’Emporda, plus wine tastings, cultural and gastronomic experiences along the way, such as the Alella Wine Route , and the visit of Barcelona itself. The Costa Daurada option includes a visit to a winery by e-bike and a visit to Celler Mont-Rubi, a famous winery with its own boutique hotel, and Mas Miro, the famous artist’s home, plus lunch at the vineyard hotel, Terre Dominicaine.

Agents can register their interest now for the workshop and familiarizations in November.
